About the speaker
Matt Tan is the author of Daily Nonya Dishes (Laok Hari Hari: Heritage Recipes for Everyday Meals). He grew up watching his parents cooking dishes learned from his grandmother, Khoo Quee Neo, matriarch of the historic Bonny Grass mansion on River Valley Road. When Matt's father passed away in 2002, he realised it was not only important to learn how to cook the food he ate regularly at home, but also to record the family recipes for future generations.

Is Armenian Street Party completely free?
All programmes are completely free, including free admission to the Peranakan Museum, The Substation, and Singapore Philatelic Museum. But food, drinks, and items from our local designers are not free, so please bring along some cash, and support Singapore creatives.
How much will food and drinks cost?
We have a wide variety of food, from the usual nyonya cuisine and fusion hawker fare to old school cocktail drinks! Food items will cost about $3 and $10, and drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic options) about $2 to $12.
What can I do there?
We have back to back performances on the main stage featuring stand-up comedian Deepak, an interactive Peranakan skit by True Blue, and local talents including The Pinholes, .gif, Joie, and Deborah Emmanuel. Avid photographer? Check out all six art installations, including Jalan Jamban featuring an interactive toilet by Substation, a giant calendar installation by wheniwasfour, a walk-in kaleidoscope called OH! Corak Corak, and a fashion display by LASALLE School of Fashion.
Is this programme suitable for families and children?
Yes! Joget Lambak in an award-winning Xtend Barre class with Upside Motion and Kenneth Francis or make your own pinhole camera or a linocut patterned fan. Too much?
